How to Stop Hair Loss and Regrow Hair Naturally?

Most of the time, hair loss occurs gradually, and we do not notice it until the density of the hair on the scalp is significantly reduced.

Hair loss is a problem that affects both men and women of different ages. Hair loss can have many causes. In this article by GOMEDIRAN, we want to talk about different ways to prevent hair loss.

Symptoms of hair loss

Most of the time, hair loss occurs gradually, and we do not notice it until the density of the hair on the scalp is significantly reduced. The time to start treatment is very important in preventing hair loss (and almost all health problems). This means that the sooner you treat your hair loss, the more likely the treatment will be effective.

The most common signs and symptoms of hair loss are:

  • Easy hair pulling
  • Accumulation of a large amount of hair in the congestion of the well after bathing
  • Lots of hair falling out when tying or combing hair
  • Pour a lot of hair on the pillow after a night’s sleep

It is necessary to see a doctor for further examinations in these cases. Because sometimes, hair loss is a sign of an underlying disease.

How to stop genetic hair loss

Symptoms of hereditary hair loss

Genetic hair loss begins with thinning hair and often progresses to hair loss on the scalp. Hair loss on pillows, in the tub, or on the shoulder is an unreliable sign of hair loss and is moderate. People lose 100 hair a day and may lose more hair under certain conditions, such as after childbirth or a serious illness. In men, hair loss typically begins at the crown of the head and continues in an M-shaped pattern. In the most advanced stage, only a part of the hair remains on the side and back of the scalp.

In women, hair loss is more widespread but more hidden, often affecting the top and middle of the head in the “Christmas tree” pattern. Compared to men, the hairline on the forehead usually remains. Complete hair loss anywhere on the scalp is uncommon and may be due to another condition, including alopecia areata, fungal infections, or other conditions.

Prevent genetic hair loss

If you start losing hair in a genetic pattern, you may be able to reduce hair loss with minoxidil or finasteride. Minoxidil can be used by both men and women, while finasteride is usually used only for men.

How to stop hormonal hair loss?

Hormonal hair loss in women

Although hair loss is usually a male complication, it can also affect women. Women are about as likely as men to have this complication. You may know that, on average, hair grows half an inch every month. Loss of 60 to 100 hairs per day is normal, but this number may double or triple in women during washing.

Symptoms of Female Hormonal Hair Loss

If you have abnormal hair loss, you may have noticed that your hair is falling out faster than normal. Some women find a lot of hair on their pillow when they wake up, and some notice that their hair gets stuck in the brush and comb more than usual. In men, the growth line usually recedes on the head, but hair loss often starts at the top of the scalp in women.

The distance between the hairs may increase, or you will notice bald spots on the head. This type of hair loss is usually called female pattern baldness.

Menopausal hair loss

Menopausal hair loss

Decreased estradiol and progesterone levels during menopause can cause women over 50 to experience many changes from hot flashes and night sweats, and insomnia to hair loss and thinning hair.

Especially women who have less information about these changes often suffer from stress. Although it is not possible to prevent menopause or hormonal changes during this period, the problems and consequences of aging can be prevented by taking appropriate measures. In this case, lowering progesterone levels plays a major role in hair loss. More severe problems can be prevented by taking appropriate hormonal medications.

Hormone changes in pregnancy and childbirth

There is almost no problem with hair loss during pregnancy. Pregnancy is associated with increased levels of estradiol and progesterone, which affect hair growth and health. Increased secretion of these hormones during pregnancy causes more hair follicles to enter the growth phase. As a result, a pregnant woman’s hair becomes thicker than before, which is great.

But the main problem arises after childbirth. Approximately three months after the baby’s birth, the hormones return to normal, resulting in a cessation of the hair growth phase. At this time, many hair follicles fall out, which worries mothers.

This type of hair loss is completely reversible, and there is no particular concern. Of course, it takes some time, but sooner or later, the situation of hair density returns to normal. Postpartum hair loss does not cause baldness.

Other causes of hormonal hair loss in women

The two most common types of hormonal hair loss are polycystic ovary syndrome and thyroid disorders. Both of these diseases cannot be treated by self-medication. Consult your gynecologist if your hair suddenly starts to fall out. Ovarian cysts can usually be diagnosed with a simple examination and ultrasound. This is not a big problem and is completely treatable. The treatment process requires patience, and the hair will grow back with complete treatment.

Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are both hormonal disorders associated with decreased or increased hormone secretion from the thyroid gland. This complication also requires a medical diagnosis. In a simple test, the disease will be diagnosed. After the treatment process, the new hair replaces the previous thin hair.

Both of these diseases are treatable. In both cases, the treatment process is long and requires the patient’s cooperation. After the main problem is solved, the hair starts to grow even without any other action. Increasing the volume and thickness of the hair returns to the previous state.

Note: Hormonal hair loss in women does not cause baldness and is reversible. The hair condition after treatment varies according to the individual’s genetics.

Prevent hair loss with proper nutrition

The health status of a person’s hair reflects in part on their nutritional status. Good nutrition affects your hair loss rate, condition, and resistance. There should be adequate amounts of protein, vitamins, and minerals in the diet to prevent hair loss and maintain health.

If you want to lose weight, talk to your nutritionist about essential nutrients or supplements needed to provide vitamins, minerals, and protein. Avoid unhealthy diets; Because they can have catastrophic consequences for your public health.

In addition to nutrients in diets, consumed calories are also important. Research shows that sudden and extreme reductions in daily calorie intake cause hair loss. Of course, hair loss due to unhealthy diets is treated, and hair growth resumes after returning to a healthy diet. But keep in mind that hair growth is very slow, and it may take a year to have a hairy head again.

If you plan to try a vegetarian diet, consult your nutritionist about the supplements you need to learn to prevent hair loss. Because some of the ingredients needed for hair health are only available from animal sources, for example, most people who follow a vegetarian diet are deficient in vitamin D.

How long do iron tablets take to stop hair loss?

How long do iron tablets take to stop hair loss?

Treatment of hair loss due to iron deficiency

Most hair loss is not due to permanent iron deficiency. The best way to treat hair loss is to address the root cause of the problem. If you think your hair loss is related to iron deficiency, consult your doctor to measure your iron levels. Your doctor will most likely order a blood test for ferritin, which measures the level of a protein called ferritin that helps store iron. If your test result shows low iron levels, you can treat it with iron tablets.

The compounds most commonly found in iron supplement pills include:

  • Iron (IRON)
  • Vitamin C.
  • Folic acid (B9)
  • Vitamin B12

Because the type of anemia varies from person to person, it is not possible to determine the exact period for taking an iron supplement, but in most cases taking the pill for at least three months is recommended.

If for any reason, various treatments to prevent hair loss have not successfully worked for you, you can consult your doctor for hair transplantation.
